Edmonds has a new neighborhood park!
The city of Edmonds acquired the property from the Edmonds school district in 2006. Instead of buying the whole lot of the old Woodway Elementary sight at the 23700 block of 104th Avenue W the city bought 5.5 acres. The other half of the lot will be developed into houses.
After some citizen suggestions and a close 4-3 city council vote, the park will be called Hickman park after neighbor, Robert O Hickman, inventor of the Hickman line, an intravenous catheter. The play area will be named after the very famous Edmonds clown, J.P. Patches.

I stopped by the park on Tuesday. It was very busy and the toys looked really fun. The trees that were left when the school was built and torn down are still standing. There's 2 nice basketball courts and a lot of field space. A covered picnic area is available along with some trails perfect for walking your dog. Maybe I can take the new kitty out.
